LETTER CARD Lethby's Souvenir of Penzance
Interesting letter card postmarked Marazion on August 22nd, 1905 and received at Smethwick in Birmingham the very nice day, August 23rd! Cancelled one penny stamp, inside is a message starting out with Dear Lucy. Obvious from message that this was an early tourist going from Birmingham, England to Penzance on Holiday. The message states in part, "We are going down Lands End today. There are plenty of visitors here from up the country but I have come across anyone from Birmingham. We are going across to Scilly Isles before we come back, love to all Alice." After the letter page are nine black and white postcard photos of Penzance & harbor; the Promenade, St. Michael's Mount; Gulval church; Land's End; Logan Rock; Gurnard's Head; Newlyn Harbor; Morrab Gardens and a page of advertising from Lethby's Bazaar in Penzance. Very nice collectible, over 100 years old, has average corner wear and cover is slightly darkened with age, inside pages fine with no foxing, $10.00
